Working For the Weekend

Here it comes…

The weekend, everyone’s favorite time, when all the world is possible and no one is breathing down your neck (unless you want them to.)

My dirty secret, I hate weekends.

I know what I am doing from Monday through Friday.  I work, I have a schedule and I only have a few hours a day where I am on my own.

Then Saturday comes and while the rest of the world enjoys plans, does chores and lives life I’m hiding out in my apartment hoping I have enough food to make it until Monday so I don’t have to go outside.

All week long the routine also works for eating so well during the day.

Wake up, drink water and pre-breakfast items, breakfast, then work, snack, lunch, snack, back home, dinner and bed.

Then the weekend hits and the schedule goes all to hell.  No work so after breakfast I sit around for hours, and since I woke up late I’ve already compressed my meals, and I think about food.

I distract myself with video games and TV and movies.

Hard times, even if I wasn’t on a strict diet for the next ten days, weekends are a clear trigger for bad eating habits.

Then after a weekend of pure hermit living I have to go back to work on Monday and get the worst question ever.

“So what did you do this weekend?”

Ummm…shower.

Yep, that’s it.

Don’t judge me just because you built a deck or gave birth or whatever.

Get back to work.

Mostly I just say “nothing” and get that sad and disappointed look from the person asking.

Enjoy your weekend!

Or don’t.

Later.
